Andries is a seasoned litigator with a diverse portfolio of experience, having represented clients in both the High Court and Magistrates Courts. As the leader of the dynamic Litigation team at Barnard, Andries provides invaluable mentorship and guidance to his team while serving a wide range of private and commercial clients in various industries, including commercial property owners, investors, insurance companies, and clients in engineering and manufacturing.
With a focus on construction disputes, insolvency-related disputes, business rescue and corporate recovery, commercial finance and banking disputes, secured and unsecured debt recovery, and general contractual disputes, Andries brings a strategic, practical, and commercial approach to resolving disputes. He has successfully represented clients in both the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Constitutional Court, and believes in staying up-to-date with the latest developments in dispute resolution.
Andries is a qualified mediator and member of one of the leading mediation associations in South Africa. With this added expertise, he can expertly assist and advise his clients in mediation proceedings prior to, or during, the litigation process.
Andries obtained his BCom and LLB degrees from North-West University and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2009. He discovered his passion for litigation while serving his Articles of Clerkship and gained valuable experience in the banking sector before joining Barnard in 2011.
When he’s not advocating for his clients, Andries enjoys spending time with his young family and pursuing his passion for photography.
