George is a litigation specialist and Director at Barnard. His legal expertise spans a range of transactional matters, including drafting and vetting contracts, insurance-specific litigation, personal injury litigation, commercial liability claims, complex recovery claims, and commercial arbitration matters.

 

George also regularly attends trial and motion proceedings in the Magistrates’ and High Courts and provides advisory work for committees of a major insurance company and a major employers’ organisation. He chairs disciplinary and grievance proceedings for specific corporate clients and appears in the CCMA, bargaining councils, and the Labour Court to handle labour disputes.

 

George’s career began in 2003 when he was recruited to work as a legal advisor at OUTsurance. He was later promoted to a management position where he oversaw a team of claims advisors. In 2006, George joined Van Breda & Herbst, where he used his valuable insurance industry experience to assist a client in improving its dispute resolution processes and efficiencies. After being admitted as an attorney in 2007, George was promoted to Director and performed various management roles while honing his skills in litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes.

 

When he’s not practicing law, George enjoys spending quality time with his family and close friends, as well as outdoor activities.
